Thrills, Family Fun, and a Roller Coaster Comeback
Hamburg’s beloved Spring DOM is back, promising a month of excitement for visitors of all ages. The city’s largest folk festival will once again transform the Heiligengeistfeld into a dazzling wonderland of lights, adrenaline-packed attractions, and culinary delights. From high-speed roller coasters to a vibrant mascot parade, this year’s programme is packed with entertainment.
What’s New?
One of the major highlights this year is the much-anticipated return of the Alpina Bahn, one of the world’s largest transportable roller coasters without loops. After 14 years, this thrilling ride is making a comeback, boasting a 27-metre first drop with nearly 50° steepness and speeds of almost 80 km/h, delivering up to 4.8 g-force for an exhilarating experience. Another must-try attraction is Hangover – The Tower, an 85-metre-high free-fall ride that will have visitors plummeting towards the ground at nearly 100 km/h.
Extreme Rides & Unique Attractions
For those craving even more excitement, the Spring DOM has a range of extreme rides beyond its towering coasters. The Airwolf, a one-of-a-kind mobile attraction in Europe, delivers gravity-defying spins at 22 metres high, while Evolution pushes speeds of 140 km/h with a force 4.5 times gravity. Meanwhile, the Nordic Tower offers breathtaking panoramic views from 80 metres above Hamburg, and the Wilde Maus XXL lets riders choose between a classic coaster run or an interactive VR chase adventure.
Event Highlights
The Spring DOM kicks off with a grand opening ceremony on 21 March at 3:00 PM in front of the Alpina Bahn, featuring giveaways of free ride tickets, DOM teddy bears, and snack boxes. On 9 April at 4:00 PM, the festival’s mascot, Bummel the bear, will celebrate his seventh birthday with a lively parade, joined by favourite characters like Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty, Biene Maja, Daisy, a Ninja Turtle, and HSV’s Dino Hermann.
The Easter weekend (20–21 April, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) brings special activities for children up to 12 years old, who can exchange decorated Easter eggs for surprises. Those who haven't decorated one at home can paint an egg at the DOM Easter tent and hang it on the Easter tree before meeting the Easter Bunny for a picture.
Visitors can also look forward to three breathtaking firework displays on 21 March, 4 April, and 20 April at 10:30 PM, lighting up the Hamburg sky. For families, every Wednesday is Family Day, offering discounted rides, games, and food specials—perfect for an affordable day out at the fair.
