You can submit a new application for higher housing benefit while you are still receiving housing benefit if
  • your income decreases
  • has increased the number of household members to be considered, or
  • Have increased your rent or charge.
  •

Detailed description

You can submit a new application for higher housing benefit as a subsidy towards your housing costs while you are still receiving housing benefit if
  • reduced your overall income
  • has increased the number of household members to be considered, or
  • Your rent or home ownership charge has increased.
These changes can, but do not necessarily have to, lead to an increase in housing benefit. You must submit the application for increased housing benefit to your local housing benefit authority.
The conditions for this claim are checked. The increase in housing benefit takes place from the time the application is submitted. A retrospective increase in housing benefit is generally not possible.

Information

Prerequisites

Requirements for an increase in housing benefit are:

  • the reduction of the income to be taken into account by more than 15%,
  • increasing the number of household members,
  • an increase of more than 15% in the rent to be taken into account or charges in the case of home ownership.
These changes can, but do not have to, lead to an increase in housing benefit.
For details, please contact your local housing benefit authority.

Documents required

The following is required to notify changes:

  • Proof of changed income

Please note

Deadlines

The increase in housing benefit takes place from the time the application is submitted. A retrospective increase in housing benefit is generally not possible.
