Prerequisites

The vehicle is still registered in Hamburg.

Documents required

The notification of sale contains the following data:

• Name, first name and full address of the purchaser
• Name, first name and full address of the seller
• the registration number of the vehicle
• Confirmation of the purchaser with signature that he has received the registration certificate part I and part II as well as the license plates

Please note

The notification of sale must contain the complete details of the purchaser (name and address) and the vehicle (license plate and vehicle identification number).

Relief from vehicle tax only occurs when the vehicle has been re-registered or de-registered.
 
The notice of sale must be made in writing.
The notification can be sent by post or as a scanned document via email. Alternatively, you can hand in the notification in person at one of the LBV locations (without an appointment).
You can submit the notice of sale in the following ways:

• in person: on site at all LBV locations

When selling a vehicle abroad, it is advisable to take the vehicle out of service beforehand, as feedback from abroad cannot always be reliably guaranteed.
