Prerequisites

The vehicle must be registered in Hamburg or registered in Hamburg .

Documents required

You will need the following documents to make a change to your vehicle documents:

• Identity card a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with a current confirmation of registration (if you change your name, the new name must already be entered in the identity document)
• a declaration of consent from all legal guardians in the case of persons who are not fully legally competent
• the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
• the registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document) - not mandatory in case of change of address
• valid HU certificate
• the appointment confirmation

Additionally in case of a name change:

• the name change or marriage certificate

Additionally in case of a technical change:

• Proof of the changes (technical report from a technical inspection body, e.g. TÃœV or Dekra) in the original
• In the case of tax-relevant technical changes: an original SEPA mandate filled out by the owner for the collection of vehicle tax. If the tax is not to be paid by the owner himself but by a so-called third party willing to pay, a copy of the ID card of the third party willing to pay is required.
• If the vehicle type or use changes: the electronic insurance confirmation (eVB).

If the application is to be submitted by power of attorney, also:

• a legibly completed original power of attorney and a legible color copy of the vehicle owner's ID card.
• original ID card of the authorized representative

Please note

Changes in the customer centers of the district offices
Changes of address in the registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration document), insofar as they relate to private vehicles that already have a Hamburg license plate and this is the first change of address, can also be made in the customer centers of the district offices as part of the re-registration process.
All further changes must be made in the LBV.
Appointment booking

1. Visit the website to book an appointment (link below)
2. Under the service group Registration for private customers, select the service Change of vehicle documents - technical change or Name change / Address change depending on your request .
3. Use location selection to display appointments at a specific location.
4. Use the date picker to find the next available appointment regardless of location.
5. Select a free appointment (date and time) in the displayed calendar
6. Enter your name and email address for booking.

You will then receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring this with you to your appointment.

Deadlines

Changes to personal data or technical changes to the vehicle must be entered immediately.

Fees

The fees range from EUR 11 to EUR 50. The exact amount of the costs can only be determined after reviewing the complete documents. The basis for the fee level is the fee schedule for measures in road traffic (GebOSt).




If the street is renamed, no fees will be charged for changing the vehicle documents.
