Driver's license, index card copy Apply for driver's license data

You can request a data extract from the driver's license register using your personal driving license data.

Detailed description

If you want to exchange your old paper driver's license (gray or pink) for a new card driver's license, you may need a card index copy. A card index copy is a data copy of your driver's license data. You need this if your old paper driver's license was not issued by your current driving license authority.
You must request the index card copy from the office that issued your paper driving license and present it to the office where you want to apply for a new driving license.

Prerequisites

  • You have an old paper driving license.
  • The authority that issued your paper driving license is no longer responsible for you.

Documents required

No documents are required to apply for a transcript of your index cards. Please simply provide the above-mentioned personal information.

Please note

If you already have a card driving license, you do not need a card index copy.

Procedure

  • You apply for the index card copy at the office that issued your paper driving license.
  • If you would like to apply for a card index copy from the Hamburg Transport Authority, please send an email to fuehrerschein@lbv.¼«ËÙʱʱ²Ê, specifying "Card index copy" in the subject line and providing the following information:
    • Last name
    • First name
    • Birth name if applicable
    • birth date
    • Contact details of the driving license office at your current place of residence
  • The index card copy is then usually sent directly to the responsible driving license authority at your current place of residence.

If you currently live in Hamburg and would like to exchange your driving license, please have the issuing driving license authority send your index card copy by e-fax to the State Office for Transport (e-fax number: 040-4279-28 200).
