Prerequisites

• You have your main residence in Hamburg.
• You have a valid company driving license.

Documents required

• a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with a current registration confirmation
• a biometric passport photo (35x45 millimeters)
• Your service driving license
• if available: the civil driving license, if this is to be extended by further classes through the conversion
• the appointment confirmation

Please note

The LBV locations Mitte and Nord are responsible for the exchange.
If you want to not only exchange your driving license for categories C and D but also extend it at the same time, you must comply with additional requirements and submit additional documents. Appointment booking

• Visit the website of the State Transport Authority to book an appointment (see link below).
• Select the category: Driving license
• Then select: Conversion of foreign driving licence or service driving licence into temporary EU card driving licence
• Follow the steps to reserve an appointment.
• You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
• You will receive an appointment confirmation. Please bring it with you to your appointment.

Application deadline: None.


Please note the validity of the individual driving license classes in your service driving license.

Procedure

• You book an appointment online.
• You bring all the necessary documents with you.
• Your request will be processed on site.
• The Federal Printing Office will then produce your driver’s license and send it by mail to your home address.

Processing time

The production of the new driver's license takes 3 - 4 weeks.

41.80 EUR - 66.00 EUR


The basis for this is the Fee Schedule for Measures in Road Traffic (GebOSt). The specific fee amount can only be determined on-site based on the submission of all required documentation.
