Lay judges who have not yet been elected should contact the district office, see link, Lay Judge Elections.
If it is actually necessary for a lay judge to appear at a court hearing, he or she will be written to and summoned to the hearing. Receipt of the letter must usually be confirmed by telephone at the clerk's office. If no confirmation is received, the lay judge will most likely be contacted again by telephone by the clerk's office. If a lay judge has not received a summons, his or her appearance is not required!
