If you need help using the online ID function of your ID card, electronic residence permit or electronic identity card, or using the AusweisApp, our digital guides are there for you at the Hamburg Service locations.

Detailed description

Our digital guides will help you install and set up the ID app and activate the PIN for the online ID function. They will also advise you on the BundID and the City of Hamburg service account and set them up with you.

They are on hand to help you at the Hamburg Service's resident affairs locations in Altona, Barmbek-Uhlenhorst, City, Eimsbüttel, Nord and Wandsbek.
They are available at these six locations from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please check the respective location page (see map below) before your visit for possible deviations in attendance.
You don't need an appointment. Just come along and speak to our pilots.

Prerequisites

You have an identity card with an activated online ID function, an eID card or an electronic residence permit.

Documents required

  • identity card, eID card or electronic residence permit
  • PIN or PIN letter, if available.

Please note

  • The online ID function is automatically activated for identity cards issued from 2017 onwards.
  • The pilots are not clerks. They are not permitted to carry out any other administrative tasks.

Digital Pilots Project

The pilots are on duty for you at the Hamburg Service's local residents' affairs locations in Altona, Barmbek-Uhlenhorst, City, Eimsbüttel, Nord and Wandsbek.

Mon-Fri 11am-5pm

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.
Use costs 6 euros.
Please speak to the clerk afterwards.

The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
