Prerequisites

You will personally make an appointment at the relevant office.

You have an identity card or an electronic proof of identity for Union citizens or nationals of the European Economic Area with an online ID function.

They have

• forgot your PIN,
• lost the PIN letter,
• the PIN was entered incorrectly 3 times or
• the online ID function has not yet been activated and you are at least 16 years old.

Please note

You cannot be represented at the competent authority.

Each PIN letter is unique. If you lose the PIN letter, you can have the six-digit PIN you choose reset at the authority. The PUK cannot be regenerated.

The following data is stored on the chip in the identity card:

• photograph
• First and last name, if applicable, religious and artistic name
• birth date
• Address
• nationality
• last day of validity
• issuing authority
• serial number
• access number
• fingerprints

Procedure

• You can make an appointment online or by calling 115.
• You appear in person at the appointment and present the required documents.
• The data from your identity card or your electronic proof of identity for Union citizens or nationals of the European Economic Area will be read.
• If you want to reset the PIN, enter a 6-digit PIN (numbers only) via the change terminal. You will receive the lock password.
• If you would like to have the online ID function activated, you will receive written instructions and sign them. You return the signed instructions to the clerk. You then enter a 6-digit PIN (numbers only) via the change terminal. You will receive the blocking password.
