You have left a religious community and need a replacement certificate.
This can happen if you have lost the certificate you were given when you left the company.

If you left the church before March 1, 2024, please contact the registry office in the district in which you were resident at the time of your resignation to have the replacement certificate issued. The registry office must retain the declaration of resignation from the church for 30 years. You can find an overview of Hamburg's registry offices under Links.

If you left the church after March 1, 2024, please contact the Hamburg Service locations in Altona, Barmbek-Uhlenhorst, City or Harburg to have a replacement certificate issued.

Please note

  • If you left the church before March 1, 2024, please contact the registry office in the district in which you were resident at the time of your resignation to have the replacement certificate issued. You can find an overview of Hamburg's registry offices under Links. The retention period for the declaration of resignation from the church at the registry office is 30 years.
  • If you no longer know where the exit took place, you can contact the following numbers/institutions:
    • For former Protestant church members:

    • For former Catholic Church members:
      Catholic Church Office, Tel.: +49 40 24877-100.
      From there you will receive a registration number as well as the date and place of your church exit.
  • If you left the church after March 1, 2024, please contact the Hamburg Service locations in Altona, Barmbek-Uhlenhorst, City or Harburg to have the replacement certificate issued.

Harburg Residents’ Affairs

You can use this service at any Hamburg Service location for residents' affairs, regardless of where you live in Hamburg.

Mon-Fri 7am-7pm, visits are only possible by appointment. You can book an appointment online (https://www.¼«ËÙʱʱ²Ê/go/17584) or by phone at 040 115.

The main entrance to Harburger Rathausforum 3 is located at the rear of the building and can be reached via the inner courtyard of the building complex. To get to the inner courtyard, use the entrance on Knoopstrasse. The mailbox is located at Harburger Rathausplatz 1 (town hall). There are no customer parking spaces available.

If you would like to apply for an identity card, passport or children's passport, you can use an existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) to capture the necessary biometric data (digital photo, signature, fingerprints).
Please allow a few minutes more time before your appointment to collect your data.
Note: You will not receive a printout of the digital photo.
There is no need to bring a passport photo with you when using the self-registration terminal.
Use costs 6 euros.
Please speak to the clerk afterwards.

The existing self-recording terminal (Speed Capture Terminal) cannot be used for fishing licenses and driver's license applications. Please bring a passport photo (biometric) with you for these services.
