Blocking of the electronic proof of identity

Have you lost your identity card or has it been stolen from you? Then you can have the online ID function blocked.

Detailed description

If the electronic proof of identity (online ID function) has been activated for your identity card, you should arrange for it to be blocked immediately in the event of loss or theft by contacting the Hamburg Service - Office for Residents' Affairs, or by calling the blocking hotline 116 116 around the clock.

Prerequisites

  • German within the meaning of Art. 116 Para. 1 Basic Law (GG)
  • Registered with main residence or sole residence in Hamburg

  • proof of identity

Please note

  • Since 2017, the ID card has only been delivered with an activated eID.
  • The blocking hotline 116 116 is always available. It is free of charge from the German landline network.
    Charges may apply from the mobile network and from abroad.

Procedure

  • You initiate the blocking personally via the Hamburg Service - Office for Residents' Affairs, or by telephone using the blocking hotline (116 116). The blocking will be initiated immediately.
  • At the same time, the police are informed by the Hamburg Service that the ID card has been lost.
  • To call the blocking hotline, you need the personal blocking password that you were given in the PIN letter. If you do not have this, you can request the blocking password from the identity card authority where you applied for your ID card. Your personal appearance and proof of identity are required for this.

Mon-Fri 7am-7pm, Sat 9am-4pm, visits are only possible by appointment. You can book an appointment online (https://www.¼«ËÙʱʱ²Ê/go/17584) or by phone at 040 115.
