The surname of your child can be changed under certain conditions at the competent registry office.

Under certain circumstances, you can change your child's surname. The following scenarios can be considered:
  • change in custody
  • After the marriage of the parents
  • After determination of non-paternity
The German registry office that registered the birth of your child is usually responsible for accepting the name declaration. You can submit the declaration in any German registry office.
